The Tailgater's Handbook Recipe for Butterscotch Bars

1/4 Cup Butter

1 Cup light brown sugar packed

1 Egg

3/4 Cup flour

1 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. vanilla

1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Melt the butter over low heat, remove from the heat and then stir in the brown sugar until it is well blended.   Cool the mixture and then stir in the egg.  Sift together the rest of the dry ingredients and then stir them in to the mixture.  Add the vanilla and nuts and stir. Spread this mixture into an 8 inch square baking dish/pan.  Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes.  They are done when a touch by your finger leaves a slight imprint.   Don't over bake.  Cut the bars when warm if you want.
